The underlying message behind ‘Chicks Are Hot Clothing’ is that women are beautiful, not just outwardly, but also because they possess an internal quality that has incredible power. Our clothing items seek to celebrate the outward beauty through shirts that are fun and flirty. But our message is that if someone simply stops at the outward and judges a book by its cover, they miss the whole point.

‘The Girl Effect’ is a cause that we are excited about for the very reason that it demonstrates the power of a girl to effect real and lasting change in the culture around them. Take a couple minutes to watch the video attached to this blog entry. Then, if nothing else, stop to think about this – even if you don’t personally live in a third world country, or decide to support someone who does – you or the women in your life have that same ability to leave a mark on the smaller world around you. What are you personally doing to ‘leave a mark’?

As a company that sells merchandise touting that 'Chicks Are Hot', we try to walk a very fine line in regard to the message that we send out to woman.  This is one of the things that we feel makes our brand very unique.  On one hand we try to create clothing that is fun and flirty, without being overly sexy, while at the same time our message is that it is what is inside of a woman that really makes them captivating.  The outside can be changed via clothing, make-up, and hair, but the things inside of a woman take time to develop.  Her interests are the things that make her truly unique.  Her desires and her passions are what set her apart from the crowd.

This video produced by Dove perfectly exposes why women in our culture should not be so fixated simply on the outward appearance.  When we first saw this we had our daughter sit down and watch and we thought that every young woman needs to see this video.  We should never let our daughters simply compare themselves to magazine covers and advertisements that will always leave them feeling less than they should.

At Chicks Are Hot Clothing we are trying to walk a fine line - Recognizing that everyone wants to look their best, yet also encouraging woman to develop their inner passions and interests.  After all, beauty is many times only Photoshop deep...

At Chicks Are Hot Clothing we are trying to follow our own advice.  We are pursuing the desires of our hearts in business.  Creating a company from scratch and learning as we go and grow.  With a start-up company every dollar is invested with great care.  It is almost like each dollar is really worth five.  We have to carefully weigh the pros and cons of every decision.  Sometimes our decisions are good and sometimes they don't pan out as expected.  But hopefully we learn.

In some ways a start-up business is a microcosm of life itself.  Every moment should be treasured.  Moments that we may view is insignificant, are probably more significant than we realize.  We rarely make every move correctly, but hopefully we learn from each and every move.  We hope that you take time each day to look in your heart and see what is there.  Take stock in where you are and where you want to be.  Life is a series of decisions.  Take a deep breath and go for it!

At Chicks Are Hot Clothing we are all about pursuing passions.  We are all about living from the heart and showing the world what we are all about.  As you think about a brand new year in 2010 make a commitment to live from your heart.  Most New Year's Resolutions fail after a short period of time.  This could be because we think that we will magically develop more discipline on January 1st than we had on December 31st.  This just isn't realistic.  However, if our goals are tied to something we are passionate about there is a much greater possibility for success.  So find a way to tie your goals to your passions.  Look for those things that get you fired up and excited.  Passion is all about life.  It is living from a heart that is fully alive.  Make a New Year's Resolution to be passionate about life in 2010!

This is the inagural post on our brand new blog.  In this space we will explore the latest things happening at Chicks Are Hot Clothing, and other things that interest us.  Our goal is to present information and ideas centered around women, their passions, and things that make them hot.  So many times in our culture we focus primarily on the outside when we discuss beauty.  But really, how beautiful is a woman if there is nothing on the inside?  Passions, interests, and substance are what really make a woman.  It seems like most people focus on outward beauty in an effort to sell us something, an ideal (no matter how unrealistic).  Then others protest that idea and focus only on the inward - causes, interests, knowledge, etc.  In reality isn't it a combination of both, in balance, that truly makes a woman hot?
